Cubic feet measure volume — the three-dimensional space inside a box, tank, or room. It is the standard unit for shipping freight, ordering concrete, and sizing appliances.
Measure each dimension in feet and multiply the three together. If some dimensions are in inches, convert them to feet first so the units are consistent before you multiply.
Multiply length × width × height, with all three in feet. The result is in cubic feet. Convert any inch measurements to feet first (divide by 12).
There are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard (3 × 3 × 3). Divide your cubic-foot result by 27 to convert.
