An average calculator finds the arithmetic mean of any list of numbers. Enter your values to get the mean along with the sum and count that produced it.
The average, or mean, is the most common measure of center: the total of all values shared equally among them. It is sensitive to extreme values, which is why the median is a useful companion.
Sum the values and divide by the count. The calculator performs both steps and shows the intermediate sum, so you can confirm the result yourself.
Add every value, then divide by how many there are: mean = sum / count. The average calculator also reports the count and sum it used.
Average usually means the arithmetic mean. If you need the middle value instead, use the median — the statistics calculator reports both.
